Elizabeth Dutcher, LMFT

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Clinical Supervisor

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist working in-person and remotely with clients all over California. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the California School for Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. I next obtained my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. My clinical experience includes Vista Hill’s ParentCare, UCSD Outpatient Psychiatric Services, UCSD’s Co-Occurring Disorder Clinic, and intensive outpatient settings for severe co-occurring disorders. I have also worked in private practice for the last 7+ years working with individuals, couples, and families. I have had the privilege to guest lecture on family therapy theories in USD’s graduate psychiatric nursing program. I have extensive training in Gottman Method from The Gottman Institute, completing levels I, II, and III, as well as additional training in trauma, infidelity, and Couple and Addiction Recovery (CAR). I also have advanced training in CBT and ACT. I am the owner and clinical supervisor of A Place to Grow Psychotherapy, allowing me the ability to promote and facilitate growth within the field workingwith associate therapists. I felt a deep calling to become a therapist to help others make the most of their lives and relationships.

Aside from being a therapist, I am a wife and a mother. I enjoy golfing, swimming, and taking advantage of our beautiful surroundings in Southern California.

Bethany Reddinger, M.A., AMFT

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist

My training and experience emphasize the significance of connection. I am dedicated to working with couples to cultivate the compassion, determination, and trust required for couples to thrive. Within the structure of the Gottman Method, I work with clients to prioritize commitment while also changing unhelpful patterns in communication and conflict. Our work together also attempts to repair areas of broken emotional connection and rebuild trust.

I am also passionate about serving couples and individuals struggling through infertility, miscarriage, infant loss, pregnancy, and the postpartum period. I work with clients to navigate this major life transition.  I am trained in perinatal mood disorders and their treatment through Postpartum Support International.

In a former role as a Bereavement Counselor for Hospice, I worked with clients to heal from the many varieties of grief. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families experiencing anticipatory grief, ambiguous loss, bereavement, and Alzheimer’s and Dementia diagnoses.

I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The California School of Professional Psychology, a Master’s degree in Literacy Education from Walden University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College. When working with individuals, I predominantly use Narrative Therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion. For couples work, I remain within the empirically based framework of the Gottman Method.

As a human, I am an intentional parent and partner. I have been a military spouse for 20 years, and learned much about the beauty of marriage and friendship through my relationships with fellow military families.  These experiences have enriched me as a parent, wife, daughter, and friend.
